QR Code Scanner & Generator

Privacy Policy & Terms of Use

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information "QR Code Scanner & Generator" (the "App"), published by AV Apps Studio ("we," "us," "our"), collects when you use the App, and how it is used. By using the App, you agree to this policy.

In short: Creating codes, scanning them, and your history all happen on your device and stay there — we run no server that receives or stores your codes, and we never log what's inside them. To keep the App free, it uses Google AdMob for ads and Google Firebase for anonymous usage statistics and crash reports. Details below.

1. Information we do not collect

We do not require an account to use the App. We do not collect your name, phone number, or postal address. The content you scan or generate (URLs, Wi-Fi credentials, contact cards, text, etc.) is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to us or stored on any server we operate.

QR code creation and scanning are performed on your device by components bundled inside the App — they do not require an internet connection and do not send your code content anywhere. The App works offline for generating and scanning codes.

2. Permissions the App requests, and why

PermissionPurpose
CameraTo scan QR codes and barcodes. Camera frames are analyzed on-device (using Google's ML Kit barcode model) and are never recorded, stored, or uploaded.
Photos / StorageTo save QR codes you generate as images, and to let you pick an existing photo from your library to scan a code from it. We only access the specific image you choose or the image we create — the App does not browse your library.
NotificationsTo send you optional in-app notifications, such as reminders or updates about your saved codes. Notifications are always optional — you can allow or deny them when asked, and change your choice at any time in your device settings. We do not use notifications for advertising, and declining them does not limit any feature of the App.

The App does not request or use your device's location. A "Location" QR code type lets you type in coordinates or an address to encode into a QR code — that is text you enter, not your device's GPS position.

3. Your scan and generation history

The App keeps a history of the codes you've generated and scanned so you can find them again. This history is stored locally on your device only, encrypted at rest using a key held in your device's secure keystore. We cannot see it, and it is not synced to any server we control. Uninstalling the App, or using "Clear history" in the App, removes it.

If you add a home-screen widget or use a quick-settings shortcut, the App saves a small snapshot of the codes shown there to your device's local app storage, so the widget can display them without opening the App. This snapshot stays on your device and is removed when you remove the widget or uninstall the App.

4. Sharing and exporting codes

When you save or share a QR code — as an image, a vCard, or text — the App hands the file or text to your device's own share sheet, and you choose the destination (a messaging app, email, cloud storage, and so on). That destination is a third party governed by its own privacy policy. We do not receive a copy of what you share, and we have no control over what the receiving app does with it.

5. Advertising

The App may display ads served through Google AdMob to support free access to the App. AdMob and its partners may collect technical and advertising identifiers (such as your device's advertising ID) to serve and measure ads, and — where you consent — to personalize them.

6. Analytics and crash reporting

We use Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) to understand how the App is used in aggregate and to receive crash reports so we can fix bugs. This data is tied to an anonymous installation identifier, not to your name or contact details. Firebase Remote Config is used to deliver app configuration (such as which features are available) without publishing an app update.

We never log the contents of your codes. Analytics records only non-identifying facts about an action — for example that a code was created, its general type (such as "website" or "Wi-Fi"), and whether it was scanned with the camera or from a photo. The actual text, link, password, or contact details inside a code are never included in analytics or crash reports.

7. Third-party services we use

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited technical data only with the service providers listed below, only as needed for them to provide those services, and only to the extent described in this policy. Each is operated by Google LLC and handles data under its own privacy policy.

Google's overall privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy. We do not use any other advertising network, analytics provider, or tracking service.

8. Data retention and deletion

Because your QR history and settings live only on your device, you control their deletion directly: use "Clear history" in the App, revoke individual permissions in your device settings, or uninstall the App to remove all locally stored data. Aggregated analytics/crash data held by Firebase is retained and deleted according to Google's standard Firebase data retention settings.

9. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ad content is set to a general audience rating.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect data handled by the App, including on-device encryption for your history using a key held in your device's secure keystore. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

11. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing (for example, personalized advertising, which you can control via the ad consent options described in Section 5, or your device's ad-tracking settings). Since we do not hold an account or server-side profile for you, most of these rights are already exercised directly on your device. For any other request, contact us using the details below.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the App after changes are posted means you accept the revised policy.

13. Grievance Officer

In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, the contact details of our Grievance Officer are published below. If you have a complaint about how your data is handled, or about any content or conduct relating to the App, you may write to them:

Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of "QR Code Scanner & Generator" (the "App"), provided by AV Apps Studio ("we," "us," "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Using the App

The App lets you generate QR codes and barcodes from information you provide, and scan/decode QR codes and barcodes using your device's camera or photo library. You are responsible for the content you choose to encode, share, or scan.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the App to:

3. Scanned content, payment codes, and third-party links

The App is a tool that reads and creates QR codes/barcodes — it does not create, verify, endorse, or control the content encoded in any code. A code you scan or generate may contain a website link, a UPI/payment request, Wi-Fi credentials, or other content authored entirely by a third party.

The App is not a party to any transaction you initiate by scanning a payment code. Before paying, transferring money, or sharing sensitive information based on a scanned code, independently verify the recipient, amount, and destination through your banking or payment app. We are not responsible for misdirected payments, financial loss, fraud, or any other consequence resulting from a code you scanned, generated, or acted on — this is true even if the code was scanned or decoded correctly by the App; the risk lies in the underlying content, not in how the App read it.

A successful scan is not a safety check. It means only that the App read the code correctly — not that the code, or wherever it leads, is genuine or safe. If a code opens a payment request, confirm the recipient and amount inside your own bank or payment app before approving anything.

The App may include basic safety measures, such as blocking certain unsafe link types and asking you to confirm before opening a payment link. These are best-effort conveniences only, may not detect every threat, and are not a substitute for your own caution.

4. Accuracy and your responsibility to check

Codes can be damaged, low-quality, non-standard, tampered with, or partially obscured. The App may fail to read a code, or may read it incorrectly. You are responsible for confirming that any decoded information is correct before relying on or acting on it — particularly amounts, account numbers, payment identifiers, and links. Likewise, you are responsible for checking that any code you generate contains the information you intended before you print, share, display, or distribute it.

5. The App does not handle money

The App is a QR code and barcode utility. It is not a payment app. It does not send, receive, hold, transmit, process, or have any visibility into funds, and it is never a party to a transaction between you and anyone else. We are not a bank, payment system, payment processor, money transmitter, or financial institution, and the App does not provide financial, banking, legal, or other professional advice.

6. No fees, and no refunds from us

The App is currently provided free of charge, and we do not collect payments from you. We therefore cannot issue refunds or reverse any transaction. If you believe you have lost money after scanning a code, contact your bank or payment provider immediately and report it to the relevant authorities — because we are never part of the transaction, we have no ability to trace, freeze, reverse, or recover such payments. Any charge appearing on your statement did not come from us; it came from whoever you paid.

7. Advertising

The App may display third-party ads, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not control and do not endorse advertised products, services, or advertisers, and any dealings you have with an advertiser are solely between you and them.

8. Intellectual property

The App, its design, logo, and underlying software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You retain all rights to the content you generate or scan using the App. We claim no ownership over the data you encode.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, accuracy, reliability, uninterrupted availability, security, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, that every code will be read correctly, or that any content reached through a code is safe or genuine.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of money, funds, profits, data, goodwill, business, or opportunity, arising out of or relating to your use of the App. This includes, without limitation, any loss arising from:

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the App shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you actually paid us for the App in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) INR 1,000. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of the above may not apply to you; in that case our liability is limited to the least extent permitted by law.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AV Apps Studio and its personnel from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) brought by a third party and arising out of your misuse of the App, your breach of these Terms, or any code you generate, share, or distribute using the App — including any code that links to fraudulent, malicious, infringing, or unlawful content.

12. Changes to the App or these Terms

We may update, modify, or discontinue features of the App, and may revise these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or discontinue the App or any feature at our discretion.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Subject to the paragraph below, the courts at Durg, Chhattisgarh — being the District and Sessions Court, Durg, and the High Court of Chhattisgarh at Bilaspur — shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, claim, or proceeding arising out of or relating to the App or these Terms, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue.

Nothing in this section limits any right you may have as a consumer to bring proceedings in the courts or consumer forums of the place where you reside or work, where the law of your country grants you that right and it cannot be waived by agreement — including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 in India.
